Cluster CARGO
French interdisciplinary research network on maritime transport decarbonization
Established in 2023, the CARGO network brings together research stakeholders contributing to the challenge of decarbonizing maritime transport in the Nantes region, in western France. Firmly interdisciplinary, its field of expertise is broad, encompassing research into decarbonization technologies (alternative fuels, electrification and electric hybridization, wind propulsion...), port infrastructure adaptations required for the transition, market conditions and decarbonization scenarios for the maritime sector, business models and legal frameworks needed to support the transition.
Hosted by the french engineering school Centrale Nantes and Nantes Université, and funded within the Framework of Nantes Excellence Trajectory (NExT), CARGO is part of the Waterborne Technology Platform.
